21. Dutch flower paradise! Is the Netherlands already on your travel list?

The tulip fields of the Netherlands are incredible beautiful to visit! The best time to visit the Dutch tulip fields is from mid-April to early May. ⠀

Before you enter a field, always ask the farmer for permission, they don’t like it when tourists just walk trough the fields. (It’s their property) Time to shoot!

24. MINI GUIDE: Dutch Tulip Fields. All information you need! SAVE for your visit

📍Where?

The Netherlands

Last year I visited the tulip fields in the flower bulb region (villages: Voorhout, Sassenheim, Noordwijk, Noordwijkerhout, Teijlingen, Lisse & Hillegom) and in Goeree-Overflakkee (villages: Nieuwe-Tonge & Oude-Tonge).

The bulb region (bollenstreek) attracts visitors from all over the world and is therefore very touristy. In Goeree-Overflakkee, on the other hand, I was almost the only one

⏰ When?

Between mid-April and early May is the best time to visit

🚲 How?

We went by car to Noordwijkerhout and hired a bike at Rent-a-Bike van Dam! From here we cycled along the route indicated on the Flower Map 2022. The route also brings you through the Dutch sand dunes and along the beach

For this year check Flower Map 2023 at bollenstreek.nl to know where the tulip fields are blooming during your visit.

🍽️ Food & Drinks

We had lunch at the beachclubs Witsand and Tulum. Both beachclubs are super nice decorated and serve delicious food. You can also have a picknick

❗️ Other things to take into account❗️

- Every year the “Bloemencorso” (or flower parade) takes place. This year the Bloemencorso takes place on Saturday, April 22. It is a procession of wagons decorated with flowers! Absolutely recommend visiting the parade when you are in the area that day. After the parade, the wagons are set up in Haarlem

- You could also visit Keukenhof. It’s a park showing many different types of flowers and tulips. Be aware, it is a world-famous attraction so it can get crowded, especially during the weekends

- Please be careful with the flowers! The tulip fields are an important source of income for many farmers and its important to respect them, their fields and the surrounding areas

- Picking flowers is prohibited!

- ENJOY the beauty of this colourful landscape
